In his Viral Marketing blog Björn Ognibeni has made some interesting remarks on the„pigeon-clip“ that has been released in Germany lately. The clips has started his carreer on the Internet in September last year and is now shown on German television where he caused a lot of PR.

Ognibeni asks wether it makes sense „to „recycle old viral agents from other markets in the way Ford is trying to do here.“ It may indeed be the case that people will probably yawn at the „new“ German clip, because many already saw the English version.

But it is also true that the story of the Ford-ad has an impact on the marketing and advertsing press and also on clients and their agencies. Because the „Evil Twin“ has brought Viral Marketing back in the mind set of German decision makers as being a relevant approach to create awareness and results.

Valentine’s Day is near. This year we won’t send flowers to our loved ones, we send a sausage.

The service, delivered by a butcher from Germany, starts a new era as the website proudly announces: „SMS, MMS & Co are out. Here comes the Wurstbrief. Never has a letter been more delicous.“

No wonder that the butcher himself finds his idea appropriate for many different occasions like store-openings, loveletters or christmas. Enjoy!

If you come across a book these days for example on a park bench on a bus or in a coffe-shop, it doesn’t necessarily mean that somebody has been forgetful. It is very possible that you have been „bookcrossed“.

„BookCrossing“ is the brainchild of Ron Hornbaker, a programmer, living in Kansas City. His vision is to make the whole world a giant library. How does it work? As a bookcrosser you have to register a book on the bookcrossing-website, then you label it and finally you release it somewhere in the wild. If the finder is a bookcrosser as well, you will receive a mail telling you where is your book now.

To help this idea spread vm-people will release a copy of Malcolm Gladwell’s „The Tipping Point“ somewhere in Berlin today. For all those who won’t find it: In this book you get to know how a good idea like BookCrossing spreads.
